Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager plans, develops and manages company policies for adhering to local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Designs and develops facilities, work areas and work procedures. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager directs preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to environmental, health, and safety engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head.     The Opportunity 

    As a Software Engineering Manager working on the Deployment Planner and Fleet Management team, you will be able to directly impact how customers get delivery of the products they purchase and how Flock ensures those products stay online and capture evidence.  As a manager, you will be responsible for leading engineering teams who are responsible for building the tools that help facilitate the factory production, test, and delivery of our products, along with supporting the repair, RMA, and redeployment of devices. 

     

    The Skillset 

    • Experience leading/managing full-stack development teams with an emphasis on cloud development and distributed systems - we leverage AWS 
    • Background leveraging frameworks and languages like react, node, javascript, and typescript 
    • Capable of getting hands-on when needed and coaching/mentoring other engineers 
    • Bonus: Experience with IoT devices, electrical engineering, or any factory/production flows

    The First 30 Days

    • Spend time meeting with your direct reports, product managers, and fellow engineering leaders. 
    • Better understand our codebase and how our developers work by pairing on small tasks in a sprint 
    • Learn how the Fleet and Planner team operates

     

    The First 60 Days 

    • Lead your team through weekly 1:1s, sprint ceremonies, and project meetings. 
    • Develop a strong understanding of the features we are working on, your team’s OKRs, our roadmap, support and on-call schedule. 
    • Learn our software design philosophies and code architecture inclusive of which repositories map to which business cases
    • Become the point person for all things Fleet Management 

     

    90 Days & Beyond 

    • Develop a strong understanding of your teams' strengths and weaknesses. Provide feedback to team members and contribute to career development discussions. 
    • Work with product management to prioritize planned and unplanned tasks as they happen and influence as needed. 
    • Actively participate in the roadmap and OKR planning for your teams and contribute ideas to how we build better software
    • Identify dependencies that could affect your teams and what they own 

    The Interview Process

    2. The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field. 
    3. The Technical Assessment: Our technical assessments seek to test the hard skills required to do the job. Engineers may find themselves in coding interviews or architecture discussions, sales roles may present mock discovery calls, and leadership roles may craft 90 day plans. Your recruiter will inform you of which assessment you will be assigned and ensure you are fully prepared for your big day. 
    4. The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners. 
    5. The Executive Review: A chance to meet an executive in your function and view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.
