Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager plans, develops and manages company policies for adhering to local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Designs and develops facilities, work areas and work procedures. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager directs preparation, maintenance, and updating of environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to environmental, health, and safety engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Env., Health, and Safety Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     This individual will provide technical support to Group SHE and all Atlas Point departments on process safety. In collaboration with the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Manager you will have responsibility over the Safety, Health, and Environmental aspects of the Atlas Point site. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust systems for SHE.

    Responsibilities:
     
    • To provide technical support as requested by Group SHE or by client sites on process safety project design and troubleshooting. This work includes reviews of current or proposed control measures, both equipment and procedural, in order to advise whether risks have been reduced to as low as reasonably practicable. Proposals for additional or alternative controls may be given
    • To provide technical support as requested by Group SHE or client sites as part of an investigation into a process related incident or accident. This involves data gathering and processing to ensure that the causes of an incident are fully understood in order to support the site investigation and ensure that corrective actions are suitable and sufficient
    • To identify and justify the implementation of hardware and procedural control measures to reduce process risks to a tolerable and as low as reasonably practical level at manufacturing sites. This work is part of the overall requirement for manufacturing sites to conduct process risk assessments
    • To provide technical assistance to aid decision making for capital expenditure projects. Information supplied to supplement a site proposal can have far reaching consequences in the potential development of a manufacturing site where there are significant potential hazardous consequences both on and off site.
    • To conduct process risk assessments at manufacturing sites. They provide the company with an independent high-level review of the risks presented by the site operations. This work involves conducting detailed risk analysis of an existing facility to consider the frequency and consequences (both on and of site) of a process upset to determine if the operations present an intolerable risk.
    • To facilitate, support and review process hazard studies as requested by client manufacturing sites. This may be in the provision of technical information, or in study leadership, and to supplement site resource.
    • To support the development of process hazard analysis methodologies within the company, in order to enhance the techniques currently available to manufacturing sites.
    • Will be involved in multiple site departments for regulatory compliance         
    • To effectively communicate and influence people at all levels including departments at other sites, contractors, auditors and regulators
    • Internal communication at all levels and all departments within the site, Product Safety Regulator Affairs department (PSRA) and Group legal department. External communication with auditors, regulators, suppliers, contractors, industry forums and SHE professionals from other companies.
    • To be able to interpret SHE legislation, best practice etc. and develop pragmatic methods of applying and implementing into site activity

    Requirements:
     
    • 5-9 Years of relevant industry experience
    • Bachelor’s degree – Environmental/Engineering/Scientific discipline
    • Chemical/PSM site experience highly preferred 
    • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) Certification is a plus
