Env., Health, and Safety Engineer jobs in Texarkana, AR

Ensure the mill meets and complies with Corporate Environmental Policies. Certify Federal, State, and Local environmental laws, regulations and permitting requirements are met. Document, monitor, and maintain all environmental compliance performance records in accordance to Corporate Policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

The salary range for this position is $62,566.60 to $104,277.67.

This position is bonus eligible, with a target value of 10% of salary.

Compliance Assurance:

• Collect and record data and perform calculations necessary to demonstrate compliance with air and water permits.
• Collect data necessary to complete facility ESG reporting.
• Perform and document routine inspections of water discharges, stormwater outfalls, air emission units and pollution control equipment.
• Ensure timely completion and documentation of environmental PMs on ESP’s, cyclones, baghouses, diesel engines, etc.
• Support stack testing as required in air permits.
• Collect water samples for analysis as required in discharge permits.
• Conduct and document monthly and annual tank inspections as required by SPCC plan.
• Collect and record data necessary to track hazardous waste generation rates consistent with current generator status.
• Manage collection, storage and recycling and disposal of Hazardous, Universal and Special Wastes such as batteries, lamps, electronics, used oil, solvents, spent aerosols, medical waste and parts washers.
• Collect and record data to track non-hazardous waste disposal.
• Sample solid and liquid wastes for analysis to ensure they are properly characterized.

Environmental Auditing, Self-Assessments and Corrective Actions:

• Support internal mill compliance audits from planning through execution.
• Perform daily mill tours to self-assess performance and proactively identify and address potential issues.
• Support execution of corrective and preventative action plans to address audit findings.
• Participate as an auditor at other mills in support of Division Audit Program

Training and Professional Development:

• Conduct environmental training for the facility personnel to meet regulatory requirements and improve overall awareness and competency.
• Participate in Division Environmental Team.
• Establish and execute a personal development plan to include technical skills necessary to meet mill needs and to provide support to the Division.

Requirements:

• Associate degree in Environmental Science, Business, Engineering or related field preferred, and/or a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the environmental field or manufacturing/business environment, preferentially with regulatory agency interaction.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet research.
• Ability to learn and master new software applications such as State and Federal Environmental Data Submission software and SDS Online software.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with mill personnel, regulatory agencies and the general public.
• Prove ability to interpret, develop, and provide training regarding environmental regulations, rules, manuals, and policies.
• Ability to research and understand new environmental regulations and apply them to mill operations.
