Summary
The Safety/DOT Coordinator is responsible for directing fleet-related risk management and training, such as safety and accident prevention programs and create/update manuals or newsletters to keep employees informed about the driver fleet safety program. This position must ensure that all local, state, and federal laws and regulations are followed.
Duties and Responsibilities
* This position must ensure that all state and federal laws and regulations are followed.
* Participate in New Driver Training, Orientation and Onboarding processes.
* Assist with driver safety performance history checks.
* Assist with review of driver applicant qualification documents for accuracy and completeness.
* Assist with driver applicant background investigation reports such as MVR's, CDLIS, and PSP reports.
* Assist with Driver Annual Performance Review and Performance Improvement needs.
* Assist in the creation and implementation of Safety policies and procedures.
* Stay up to date of OSHA, FMCSA, Federal, State, and Local DOT compliance regulations.
* Oversee DOT drug/alcohol testing program.
* Utilize understanding of FMCSA programs such as Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) and DataQ to enhance safety performance.
* Effectively communicate safety performance metrics and successes to drivers, contractors, managers.
* Coordinate new hire and annual MVR review and adjust scorecards accordingly.
* Design and implement driver incentive and coaching programs, including program selection, timing, and performance measurement.
Educational background / Work experience / Qualifications
* High School Diploma / GED required
* Minimum 1 year experience in transportation & logistics industry
* Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations
* Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
* Able to prioritize, set goals, and accomplish responsibilities with limited supervision.
* Demonstrated highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
