About the Technical Institute for Environmental Professions:
The Technical Institute of Environmental Professions (TIEP) at Unity Environmental University provides an efficient and cost-effective path to the workforce for those seeking their first job, career changers, and individuals looking to enhance their skills. TIEP was established to bridge the skills gap in the job market by offering affordable associate degrees and certificate programs. With short, 1 to 2-credit courses available in two-week terms throughout the year, students can easily manage their schedule and pace their learning. This flexible approach allows them to start and stop as needed while pursuing their goals.

The Opportunity:
Enrollment Counselor actively recruits students of all ages, backgrounds, and demographics. They are trained to be expert in all the Technical Institute for Environmental Profession (TIEP) program offerings as well as proficient in the basic offerings and services of all other Sustainable Education Business Units (SEBUs) and the Unity Environmental University Enterprise. This position will develop relationships with external groups as assigned, such as high school guidance counselors, veteran transitional services, immigrant services, retraining programs, and/or post-incarceration transition programs. To support robust enrollments, Enrollment Counselor s may host public presentations as well as engage with individuals and groups as needed.

Day to day responsibilities:

• The responsibilities of an Enrollment Counselor include meetings and group information sessions, recruitment travel, and regular communication with prospective students and families.
• Communicate effectively.
• Develops working relationships with high school guidance counselors, and other influencers in assigned territories.
• Works with each prospective learner in their territory and maintains systematic contact with these individuals using, e.g., phone calls, letters, electronic mail, text messages, personal visits and other forms of communication or activities.
• Assists or coordinates activities involved in the recruitment and learners representing a targeted constituency for enrollment to the Institute.
• Proficient with social media utilization for professional purposes.
• Assists or coordinates enrolment activities/events: visit days, campus tours, melt events, or other events.
• Respond toTechnical Institute for Environmental Professionsleads by appropriate means such as but not limited to; in-person, telephone, email, text, letter, Zoom, and social media.
• Due to the range of duties associated with this position Enrollment Counselor must develop and possess:
  • A complete understanding of the recruitment practices of the Technical Institute for Environmental Professions, the Unity Environmental University Enterprise, and the Unity Environmental University - Sustainable Educational Business Units (SEBUs).
  • A detailed understanding of the Technical Institute academic programs.
• As assigned be responsible for the initiation, execution, and analysis of special projects.
• Strong oral communication skills and the ability to successfully presenting the institution in a favorable light to individuals, groups, businesses, and the community.
• Ability to problem solve and support learners through the recruitment process.
• An appreciation for the fast-paced nature of this work and the flexibility to handle a variety of duties and projects throughout the day as well as throughout the year.
• Generates reports from the administrative database to inform decisions.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies.
• Ability to become knowledgeable about all aspects of Technical Institute for Environmental Professions and the Unity Environmental University Enterprise including academic programs, campus events and activities, orientation, financial aid, billing, University policy .

Qualifications

Do you have the skills?

• Associated Degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 1 - 3 years’ experience in higher education, enrollment management, student affairs/services, recruitment, admission, or related fields such as sales.
• Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and public speaking skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Computer literacy, including social media, and data capability.
• Ability to follow direction problem solve, manage priorities, and will be held accountable for reaching enrollment benchmarks and enrollment goals
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, presentation software, and social media platforms required; experience using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system such as Salesforce CRM a plus.
• The ability to work as member of a team and the confidence to work independently.
• Ability to function effectively within a matrix organizational structure, maintaining open lines of professional communication.
• Strong strategic, creative, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to obtain a valid Maine driver’s license and complete a successful RMV check.

Location: Pineland Farms, New Gloucester, Maine
Just a half hour from Portland, Unity Environmental University Headquarters, Unity Environmental University Distance Education, The Technical School for Environmental Professions, and the School of Environmental Business & Sustainable Ventures are based at the Pineland Farms campus. The facilities are within easy access to one of the fastest-growing cities for startups in the country.
 

Work Schedule:
Work hours are specific to the requirements of this position and can include days, evenings, weekends. Working extended hours may be required as needed and Unity Environmental Universityemployees must be flexible and cooperative in fulfilling their responsibilities while meeting the University’s needs.

Although at Unity Environmental UniversityEnterprise employees are generally scheduled to work at their base location, there are times when travel is necessary and employees are required from time to time to attend events, meetings or work temporary assignment at any Unity Environmental Universitylocation.
 

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The use of either hand for repetitive movements such as grasping, grasping, and turning, and fine manipulation is required as is the ability to use the telephone for internal and external communications.
