Engineering Manager manages all engineering activities within a department including design, development, production and testing. Implements and maintains overall engineering objectives and initiatives. Being an Engineering Manager confronts and solves performance/operational issues to improve development efficiency. Leads and develops the engineering team. Additionally, Engineering Manager oversees a robust project management process and delivery timelines to keep projects on schedule and on budget. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline. Typically reports to a director. The Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Essential Functions
• Set goals, mentor, evaluate, and motivate Engineering staff. Manage departmental budget.
• Implement, monitor, and report on capital project work across the facility.
• Develop alternative approaches to implementation of capital projects that reduce costs.
• Develop and implement project plan(s) that resolve planned improvements, equipment enhancements, and/or capital expansions as the Project Manager.
• Perform analysis (financial/operational) to indicate the feasibility of projects and process change.
• Research and submit Capital Project requests, selects equipment, conducts contractor pre-qualifications, award bids, budgets, and coordinates work with suppliers and contractors to assure completion time and within budget.
• Serve as a liaison with Operations, Maintenance, and other teams in which capital work is performed.
• Manage and coordinate the annual capital plan with Finance and the rest of the management team.
• Leads project engineers, drafters/designers, construction coordinators and the Automation team.
