Leads and develops the engineering team. Additionally, Engineering Manager oversees a robust project management process and delivery timelines to keep projects on schedule and on budget. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline. Typically reports to a director. The Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     A Day in Your Life at MKS:

    MKS Instruments is seeking an Engineering Manager to join the Photonics R&D team. This role is responsible for directing a technical team involved in the design, modification, and evaluation of all phases of development, from product definition through production and release. In this role, you will report to the Director, Engineering, in Instruments, under our Photonics Solutions Division.

    You Will Make an Impact By:

    • Functions as the central resource with responsibility for the design, manufacturing, quality and test, as the product(s) move to release and distribution.

    • Promotes investigation of new technologies and keeps abreast of technology development and industry trends.

    • Ensures that products shipped meet specifications and quality goals.

    • Formulates and executes long term plans for cost/profit control.

    • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

    • Oversee budgeting, project planning & scheduling for all R&D activities at site.

    Skills You will Bring:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required; Master's Degree preferred.

    • 3 years of related Engineering Management experience.

    • Highly motivated and independent.

    • Strong leadership and team management skills.

    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

    • Ability to direct a technical team involved in the design, modification, and evaluation of all phases of a specific product, or group of products, from product definition through production and release.

    • Any experience In Photonics-Laser, Optics, Instrumentation, etc., is a plus.

    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

    • Travel Requirements: up to 20% of travel (one trip each quarter) is required.
