Engineering Director plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities and projects within an organization. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization's established policies and objectives. Being an Engineering Director utilizes best practice engineering methods and provides expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives. Incorporates components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output. Additionally, Engineering Director manages overall engineering budget and costs. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline. Typically reports to top management. The Engineering Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Engineering Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. You will provide technical leadership and managerial mentoring while also directing aspects of our engineering policies, processes, and objectives. This role will also play a key role in the overall organizational health of the engineering organization and support our recruitment and talent development.
The Director of Engineering will lead and be responsible for delivering the technical, cost, and schedule performance for Cesium Astro’s space applications. Solutions include single-board computers, software-defined radios, phased array antennas, and more sophisticated communication solutions. The successful candidate will also present engineering design review materials to our customers and executive team, as well as participate in proposal-writing efforts. As such, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing an engineering organization that develops innovative products with very high quality, attracting and retaining talent, and successful staff development (mentoring, coaching, and training).
