DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under general supervision of the Chief Inspector, the Engineering Aide I is responsible for inspecting construction of subdivisions and City infrastructure including but not limited to:

• Buildings
• Utilities
• Drainage
• Streets, etc.

Engineering Aide I must coordinate with Zoning, Building Permits and Fire Prevention to facilitate a smooth project permitting process, maintain files of ongoing projects and work in close concert with contractors concerning planned and ongoing engineering projects and like work. Must have thorough knowledge of Civil Engineering practices.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to inspect construction, communicate with contractors, and comprehend a set of civil plans and specifications. This position shall report to the Chief Inspector and assist other Engineering Division inspectors. Ability to make field records, as-built documents, and create daily inspection reports.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High school graduate with 4 to 6 years practical knowledge of construction experience. Must have experience in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
