Description
Trust Fund, Temporary Intermittent, not to exceed 90 days.
First consideration may be made 14 days after the opening of this vacancy.
This is the position of Engineering Aide, Central Engineering Department, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. The purpose of the position is to provide systems engineering support to various projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs selected tasks that require the application of basic principles in the technical area of Electrical Engineering.
- Participates with senior personnel in designing electrical projects.
- Participates with senior personnel in implementing and testing electrical projects.
- Assists in planning, monitoring, and conducting special studies, projects, and initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
● Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles.
● Knowledge of and skill in applying commonly used design principles, procedures, or operations acquired through classroom or on-the-job training in the field of Electrical Engineering.
● Ability to learn new software
● Knowledge and skill in using standard MS Excel, Word, and Powerpoint applications.
● Skill in oral and written communication.
