Definition: Performs skilled office work involving drafting, mapping activities, review of encroachment permits, and responding to citizen concerns at the Permit Center; performs related work as required.
Supervision Exercised and Received: Provides lead direction to assigned staff. Receives limited supervision from the Principal Engineer, Senior Engineer and/or Traffic Operations Engineer.
Examples of Typical Job Functions: The essential functions of the classification may include, but are not limited to, the functions below and are subject to changes in operational necessity.- Performs mapping, hand and computer-aided drafting and drawing activities to produce drawings and presentations related to Land and Project Development and Traffic;
- Prepares and coordinates service requests and work orders with various departments at the Public Works Service Center and Police Department Traffic Enforcement Division;
- Responds to citizen requests and concerns at service counter and via correspondence, phone and email; issues encroachment and building permits;
- Assists with land development issues by performing research of related historical data and documents; and

Education: High school diploma or certified equivalent (GED) with classes in higher mathematics including algebra, geometry, plane geometry, trigonometry and drafting.
Experience: Two years of experience in the performance of engineering survey support functions and drafting tasks in an engineering environment, preferably in a municipal government environment.
Licenses, certificates and other requirements: Must be willing to work such hours as are necessary to accomplish the job requirements; travel to attend meetings, and conduct field work.
