Energy Dispatch Director directs the real-time operations of energy dispatch centers. Responsible for ongoing transmission and distribution of energy. Being an Energy Dispatch Director aware of generation expectations and is responsible for minimizing risk and maximizing efficiency and economy. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Energy Dispatch Director demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Typically reports to a top management. The Energy Dispatch Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Energy Dispatch Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Energy Services is comprised of several departmental organizations: Utility Production, Distribution Systems, Utility Engineering, Administration, and Energy Management. As a whole, Energy Services is responsible for producing and distributing utility services and managing the campus’s energy consumption. The Director of Energy Services is responsible for the overall leadership of the utility enterprise operation.

     

    Responsibilities include:
    Provide leadership, oversight, and direction for the Energy Services department organizations: utilities production, distribution systems, utilities engineering, energy management and control systems, and administration.

    Manage an annual budget exceeding $40,000,000 and establish utilities rates and budget to include projected capital improvements.

    Ensure Energy Services operations meet compliance requirements for local, state, and federal regulations including but not limited to:

    Energy Services assets have an estimated combined value of over $400M. The Director is responsible for providing leadership and direction in the development of utilities capital planning and physical asset maintenance to ensure the assets are operating effectively and efficiently and operate through their maximum lifespan.

    Schedule may require work outside of regular hours.

    The work environment is an administrative office in a state-of-the-art thermal plant where periodic loud noise is possible. Work may also include occasional visits to one of the department’s industrial plants or a job-site, or to mechanical rooms and utilities tunnels. May be required to occasionally climb ladders and enter confined spaces or spaces where hazardous materials may exist. Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (hard hat, vest, gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use.
