The role of the Manager - Employee Relations is to ensure the fair and consistent application of company policies and state and federal laws by supervisors, managers, and departments. The Employee Relations Manager builds relationships with all employees to create an open and communicative work environment. They provide support to associates regarding company policies and state and federal laws. Additionally, the Manager oversees the Human Resources team responsible for onboarding news hires, employee communication, and general HR functions.
* Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Interview, hire, and train associates.
- Plan, assign, and direct work.
- Appraise performance.
- Address complaints and resolve problems.
- Build positive associate morale.
* Human Resource Management:
- Provide coaching and guidance to management throughout the associate lifecycle, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and termination processes.
- Collaborate and partner with other departments related to compensation, benefits, risk management, and payroll.
* Employee Relations:
- Meet with associates (exempt and non-exempt) to address questions or concerns regarding company policies and state/federal laws.
- Make recommendations to effectively resolve problems, ensuring compliance with employment standards, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate and deliver training sessions on employment, performance evaluation, and company policies.
- Coach management on employee relations and corrective actions.
- Partner with managers/supervisors on performance evaluation process and provide performance appraisals.
- Complete employee relations investigations.
* Legal Compliance:
- Make decisions and assist in resolving issues related to employment, leaves of absence, and employee communication.
- Respond to all legal requests related to employee relations.
- Collaborate with legal counsel to prepare for necessary mediations, arbitration, or other legal proceedings.
