Job Summary: The Performance Nutrition Specialist provides nutrition care and support for all aspects of the nutrition program.
Additional Department Summary: Oversees nutrition bar operations. Assists in training and supervision of student workers and nutrition interns. Assists in tracking and reporting nutrition data and outcomes. Manages procurement of all nutrition items. Provides nutrition and hydration support all performance settings. Drafts and presents performance-oriented football nutrition education materials and presentations.
Provides nutrition expertise for Alabama Football. Assists in the management of student workers and nutrition operations. Travels with football team. Procures and manages nutrition essentials for home and away games. Manages hydration testing equipment for football athletes. Assists in management of nutrition allotments. Manages nutrition department-wide product orders and inventory and tracks weekly budget expenditure. Assists Director and Assistant Director with weight management and body composition testing and reporting. Upholds all aspects of campus health code and works with health inspectors to assure proper management of nutrition areas. Designs and executes daily recovery nutrition regimens. Monitors acceptance and revise for optimal recovery outcome. Develops competency with Notemeal and any additional technologies utilized by nutrition staff. Monitors and contributes to pre-competition meals, in-game fueling and hydration, and post-season duties as assigned. Researches nutrition products and dietary supplements to recommend products for integration into performance nutrition program. Assists with individualized supplement regimens and injury protocols.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in clinical nutrition, food and nutrition, dietetics, public health nutrition, exercise physiology, or other nutrition/ dietetics related degree.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Registered Dietitian
Preferred Qualifications: Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD). Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics or related fields. Experience in college, pro, elite athlete sports environments. Experience with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
