Employee Development Specialist implements and supports programs aligned with leadership development strategy and strategic business imperatives to develop management capabilities throughout the workforce. Maintains frameworks that represent skills and leadership capabilities that are critical to long-term and short-term objectives. Being a Employee Development Specialist supports training, coaching, professional development, and experiential assignments that make up the leadership development strategy. Fosters a culture of informal knowledge exchange, coaching, and training throughout the organization to engage and develop the workforce. Additionally, Employee Development Specialist promotes training and development programs and career pathing initiatives. Prepares analysis and reporting of leadership development efforts and results. May participate in periodic succession planning exercises and talent assessments to ensure critical roles are defined. Helps to create slates of individuals identified for leadership development activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Employee Development Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.      In this role you will be directly responsible for the strategic design and delivery of world class development experiences for all Dutonians starting from day one and continuing throughout their employee journey. This includes everything from welcoming new employees and setting them up for success, to powerful individual contributor (IC) career development experiences (interactive workshops, mentoring programs, etc.), to enterprise learning initiatives to build mission critical skills the entire organization needs for PagerDuty to thrive. 

    Leveraging deep learning design & facilitation experience and substantive subject-matter expertise, you will develop a robust portfolio of learning and development experiences that produce measurable impact at a high-growth global tech company.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Consult and build high-trust partnerships with key stakeholders to fully understand their greatest challenges across the business, identifying strategic skill gaps and development opportunities for ICs and ruthlessly prioritize the highest impact opportunities to build solutions.
    • Take a human-centered, iterative design approach to develop engaging learning experiences by understanding the “voice of the employee” (our end users) through conducting design research (global needs analysis, facilitating focus groups, design workshops,etc.).
    • Design and deliver scalable learning & development solutions that fortify our culture, increase individual capabilities, and tangibly impact the business. Incorporate blended learning and adult learning principles into solution design and leverage the appropriate modalities, including self-paced e-learning, instructor-led training (both in-person and virtual classroom material), wiki tools, playbooks, etc.
    • Collaboratively partner with Manager Development counterpart, DEI, Talent Acquisition, and our People Business Partners ensure our tools, experiences, and programs integrate and align across the company
    • Create high quality participant guides, facilitator guides, and supporting materials (course manuals, workbooks, handouts, job aids, etc) 
    • Some key elements of your portfolio would include: 
    • Regularly analyze and report on program outcomes and impact using industry standard approaches such as the Kirkpatrick training evaluation method, making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement. 

    Basic Qualifications: 

    • 7 years of experience designing and delivering large scale L&D programs, preferably in high-growth corporate environments
    • 5 years of experience in a program management role within a People/HR team -  preferably in talent development, organizational development or learning and development
    • Proven track record in instructional design, facilitation, and delivering on strategy aligned to company strategy, delivering strategic and tactical solutions in fast-paced, high-growth environments
    • Strong knowledge of OD methodologies, measurement strategies, and tools 

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Bachelors/Masters of Science in Instructional Design & Technology or closely related field
    • Experience with agile methodology and design thinking
    • Proficiency designing and developing e-learning using authoring tools like Captivate, Articulate 360 and Adobe creative cloud
    • Experience in eLearning design theories and standards (SCORM, AICC, etc.)
    • Experience with project management software such as Asana or Monday.com
    • Professional trainer certification (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance – CPLP, Certified Technical Trainer - CTT , or similar).
    • Video editing skills
    • Experience driving automation or standardization leveraging technology solutions

     

    The base salary range for this position is 142,000 - 217,000 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.

    Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
