Employee Development Specialist implements and supports programs aligned with leadership development strategy and strategic business imperatives to develop management capabilities throughout the workforce. Maintains frameworks that represent skills and leadership capabilities that are critical to long-term and short-term objectives. Being a Employee Development Specialist supports training, coaching, professional development, and experiential assignments that make up the leadership development strategy. Fosters a culture of informal knowledge exchange, coaching, and training throughout the organization to engage and develop the workforce. Additionally, Employee Development Specialist promotes training and development programs and career pathing initiatives. Prepares analysis and reporting of leadership development efforts and results. May participate in periodic succession planning exercises and talent assessments to ensure critical roles are defined. Helps to create slates of individuals identified for leadership development activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Employee Development Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • We are currently looking for a Development Specialist to join our Children’s Foundation of America team. The Development Specialist will be supporting the department administration, the volunteer program, general marketing efforts including improving and maintaining agency and foundation print media, web presence, and public relations for various audiences. Other duties include but are not limited to:

    • Develop and monitor both Agency-wide and site-specific, results-oriented marketing plans.
    • Help manage communications activities including external communications and systems (newsletter, direct mail promotions, planned giving program and materials, website, electronic marketing efforts, and advertisements), internal communications and systems regarding Agency promotions and development.
    • Work closely with Director of Development on marketing components of special events and programs to promote Agency awareness.
    • Participate in trade/industry shows, community events, and conferences as deemed appropriate and beneficial by the Director of Development.
    • Assists by coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and supporting individual and group volunteer activities, projects, and special events to meet the Agency and Foundation established goals and anticipated needs.
    • Create and maintain advertising budgets. Supports the Development Department administratively, answering phones and taking messages, greeting guests, processing outgoing mail and packages, receiving, and distributing incoming mail, filing, and maintaining files, generating work orders, and ensuring supplies are stocked and available to volunteers as needed.
    • Promote engagement for volunteer program, events, and campaigns.
    • Approaches foundations, corporations, and individuals with partnership and collaborative opportunities to support foster youth, which may include completing applications, drafting proposals, and solicitation of resources.
    • Participates in trade/industry fairs, community events, networking events, conferences and presentations as assigned, including public speaking.
    • Provides clear, concise, and detailed instructions to volunteer groups of various sizes.
    • Occasional travel (day trips, overnight trips, etc.) as required for completion of above listed tasks; must be able to work indoors and outdoors, as well as some night and weekend hours.
    • Pick up or drop off donations and items as needed.

    Skills/Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Business Administration, Marketing/Communication, Public Relations, English, or related field from an accredited institution is required; three consecutive years of community outreach and/or project management experience in a non-profit environment may be substituted for education.
    • A minimum of two years related experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, nonprofit development, or commensurate field.
    • Must have strong project management skills, including budgeting and demonstrated ability to execute multiple concurrent projects.
    • Must be able to manage administrative aspects of project completion and have the ability to create promotional, marketing concepts.
    • Computer literate and possess working knowledge and demonstrated ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database management programs, and web technology.
    • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Possess accurate spelling, grammar, punctuation and correct English usage skills.
    • Experience using Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge development software preferred.
    • Must communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing in English.
    • Must be 18 years of age or older, possess a valid California driver’s license with a clean DMV record and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and be insurable by Trinity’s insurance carrier.
    • Must be able to pass a physical examination; drug clearance; criminal background check and Child Abuse Index check.

    Pay rate: $25.00 per hour.

    Hours: 32 hours per week.
