Employee Development Specialist implements and supports programs aligned with leadership development strategy and strategic business imperatives to develop management capabilities throughout the workforce. Maintains frameworks that represent skills and leadership capabilities that are critical to long-term and short-term objectives. Being a Employee Development Specialist supports training, coaching, professional development, and experiential assignments that make up the leadership development strategy. Fosters a culture of informal knowledge exchange, coaching, and training throughout the organization to engage and develop the workforce. Additionally, Employee Development Specialist promotes training and development programs and career pathing initiatives. Prepares analysis and reporting of leadership development efforts and results. May participate in periodic succession planning exercises and talent assessments to ensure critical roles are defined. Helps to create slates of individuals identified for leadership development activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Employee Development Specialist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • GENERAL SUMMARY:

    Under limited supervision, responds to complex and problematic employee and management inquiries regarding Human Resources (HR), Benefits and Payroll policies, HRIS, and procedures within HFHS. Serves as first line of assistance to Employee Services Agents' inquiries, problem resolution and follow up. Acts as a strategic partner with assigned local HR teams, including the HR Leader, Business Partners and HR Associates at designated Business Units, using Metrics to make recommendations to better manage local customer needs.


    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responds to complex employee and management inquiries regarding HR, Benefits and Payroll policies and procedures, ensuring top notch customer service. Perform the necessary research and coordination of other HR Benefits/Payroll professionals to ensure complete resolution of issues. 
    • Provides expertise in designated areas of specialization as needed to facilitate resolution of inquiries, processing of transactions and education of Employee Services Center staff.
    • Acts as a strategic partner with assigned Local HR teams, including the HR Leader, Business Partners and HR Associates at designated Business Units, using Metrics to make recommendations to better manage local customer needs.
    • Provides assistance to Employee Services Agents as needed to carry out their tasks.
    • Processes and researches corrections related to HR and Payroll transactions into HR Information System and other related databases. These would include retro terminations, pay changes, necessary CTG adjustments, etc.
    • Identifies and reports trends of employee or management issues based upon inquiries and/or transactions. Provide recommendations for process improvements as needed.
    • Utilizes various Shared Service Data to identify service issues/trends and make recommendations for correction action with the local HR Units supported.
    • Communicates with representatives from various insurance carriers to resolve issues. This would include investigating source of system and/or transaction problems. Complete requests for additional information as required by these carriers.
    • Works with Corporate Benefits to facilitate retroactive insurance adjustments with the various carriers.
    • Provides direction to employees and managers to utilize the various mediums available in the Employee Service Center, e.g. open enrollment via web, self-service capabilities, etc.
    • Participates in strategic initiatives related to process improvement and enhancements, e.g. standardization activities, system upgrades, implementation of new technology, etc.
    • Meets with employees and managers who visit Employee Services Center for service.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field of study, preferred. 
    • Three (3) years’ experience in Human Resources and/or customer service environment.
    • Functional knowledge of HR, Benefits & Payroll concepts. Computer literate (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Experience with PeopleSoft or other relational database.
