    Job Summary and Qualifications

    Galen College of Nursing is looking for an experienced and talented communications leader to oversee all institutional internal and external communications for employees, students, partners, and communities at large. A self-starter, the ideal candidate will possess expertise in strategic communication decision making and a keen understanding of the subtle nuances of language in communicating across a broad spectrum of content, channels, and audiences. The Director of Communications will join inter-departmental groups on a variety of strategic initiatives, leading Galen’s communications standards and advancing our culture, mission, and vision for all audiences.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage internal and external communications including but not limited to emails, newsletters, presentations, articles, and academic support materials for employees, students, alumni, healthcare partners, and our campus communities at large, supporting the communication needs of all cross-functional departments within the College as needed
    • Compose and distribute press releases, act as institutional spokesperson, and respond to members of the media in a timely manner, while maintaining positive professional relationships with various members of the media
    • Collaborate with Marketing team leaders on the creation, development, and execution of the Marketing & Communications strategic plan
    • Develop and implement policies to improve and enhance the efficiency of the communications department
    • Serve as liaison between HCA Healthcare Corporate Communications team and HCA Healthcare Division leaders to achieve key communications objectives
    • Manage Communications Manager in the development and creation of content, Pure Community website, and Town Hall production
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of the internal Pure Community website, including methods to deliver message, ease of navigation, and clarity of information; ensure that all content is current and relevant
    • Collaborate with Creative Director and Marketing Support colleagues in the production of content all internal audiences, analyzing results and identifying opportunities
    • Assist executive leadership in developing presentations, speeches, and other important corporate messages
    • Guide and encourage inter-departmental team members to communicate effectively and assist with communications where necessary

    Requirements:

    • BA/BS degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
    • 12 years’ experience in communications role with three of those in a leadership position
    • Ability to identify strategy and communication needs requiring singular action, and that which is more complex, requiring an integrated approach
    • Strong presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications
    • Superior project and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and manage the priorities of multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced and complex environment
    • Highly organized and process-driven but can also think scale
    • Ability to write in a journalistic style that is customary for corporate audiences and external publications
    • Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with audiences ranging from c-suite executives to students
    • Crisis communication and management
    • Impeccable attention to detail
    • Depth of expertise in providing sound press/media relations advice to senior leadership
    • Strong team spirit. We are looking for another collaborative team member with a positive attitude who is a cultural addition to the team
    • Other duties as assigned

    Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit at a desk for up to eight (8) hours. Some travel required.
