    Position Summary
    The Margaret Walker Center at Jackson State University invites applications for its Education and Public Relations Manager position. The Education and Public Relations Manager oversees the Margaret Walker Center’s public relations, educational outreach, and technological assets. It includes engaging the public and media, managing the website and social media interfaces, caring for and upgrading technology, fundraising, filming events and oral histories, digitizing and transcribing collections, and working closely with the Center’s staff.

    • Excellent computer, social media, digital technology, film, photography, and public relations skills.
    • Skills in website development and programs such as WordPress, Omeka, and ContentDM.
    • Knowledge of software programs, specifically Zoom, Streamyard, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop.
    • Skills in maintaining social media, specifically Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
    • Strong organizational skills as well as writing and editing skills.
    • Excellent personal and communication skills and ability to work in a team and public setting.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities
    • Manage all public relations for the Margaret Walker Center.
    • Manage all technology for the Margaret Walker Center.
    • Manage educational outreach for the Margaret Walker Center, including soliciting and working with school and tour groups.
    • Maintain and update the Margaret Walker Center’s website and social media interfaces.
    • Craft the Margaret Walker Center’s e-blasts.
    • Care for and upgrade, when needed, the Margaret Walker Center’s technological assets.
    • Pursue fundraising in conjunction with the Margaret Walker Center’s Director.
    • Work with the Margaret Walker Center’s oral history and manuscript department to record, preserve, and digitize collections.
    • Provide support to all visitors and researchers to the Margaret Walker Center.
    • Participate in the planning, execution, and filming of all Margaret Walker Center events.
    • Work cooperatively with other Margaret Walker Center staff.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Margaret Walker Center’s Director.
