We are looking for a Director of Training and Employee Development to play a key role in furthering our mission throughout our company.

    Summary/Objective:
    Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, the Director of Training and Employee Development will/is:
      • Responsible for ensuring the assessment, development, implementation, and strategic integration of a leadership program that is designed to identify learning and development needs and drive learning and development as an integral function of the organization.
      • Evaluates both individual and organizational development to ensure learning strategies are effective across all levels of the organization.
      • Functions as a trusted partner and advisor, serving as a resource for consultation relating to learning and development for optimal career paths
      • Responsible for coordinating the training and development of the organization’s employees.
    This position is instrumental in reducing turnover and developing relationships that establish Goodwill Industries of Kansas, Inc. as an employer of choice. Maintain a high level of professionalism in all functions and duties. To fulfill mission statement.

    Skills and Knowledge:
    Prior experience with coaching, mentoring and developing high potential training programs as well a building and implementing training and development. Proven expertise in curriculum design and development with a focus on leadership development. Experience with the selection and implementation of a Learning Management System.

    Education/Experience:
      • Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum of five years’ experience as a Training Manager.
      • Prior experience with coaching, mentoring, and overseeing high potential programs as well as building and implementing a training curriculum.
      • Knowledge of adult learning principles and effectiveness of instruction methods, micro-learning, on the job application of skills and online learning tools.
      • Strategic knowledge of learning and development technology.
      • Must have a valid driver’s license.:

    Essential Functions:
      • Develop and implement a comprehensive talent development and advancement strategy aligned with organizational goals and values.
      • Lead the design, development, implementation, and delivery of engaging and interactive learning and training programs that enhance employee skills at all levels and contribute to organizational success.
      • Align business requirements to learning objectives that will move the agency towards meeting strategic goals and support succession planning.
      • Partner with executive management to architect a framework that supports professional development at every step in a Goodwill employee’s career.
      • Partner with the Manager of Corporate Risk Management to evaluate and facilitate safety training for all locations.
      • Partner with the Director of Workforce Development to solicit and secure college relationships to create credentialing, certification, and degree track programming for employees.
      • Lead in the selection, implementation, and management of a Learning Management System to track progress of participants and program scheduling.
      • Organize, publicize, and recruit audiences for participation in learning and development programs both internal and external.
      • Champion a culture of lifelong learning and grow leaders for the future through vertical and horizontal leadership approaches.
      • Promote learning and employee development, including coaching and mentoring for individual contributors and teams.
      • Conduct ongoing needs assessment to identify and map necessary training programs (position specific, as well as basic orientation, onboarding, and leadership) across the agency and develop tracking process to ensure compliance.
      • Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify training needs and develop customized learning programs across multiple organizational business divisions and locations.
      • Work with vendors to evaluate products including a learning management system and determine which products are most beneficial for learning and development for each area.
      • Introduce new learning and development programs to support changing strategic objectives (technical, professional and leadership development).
      • Lead with a user centered perspective to ensure that learning objectives are incorporated into employee evaluations so that they reflect both individual and agency performance goals.
      • Continuously explore ways for Goodwill’s learning and development approach to be groundbreaking while striving for efficiency, effectiveness, and agility.
      • Anticipate (and eliminate) future skills gaps through incisive, diverse, inclusive, and equitable learning and development programming.
      • Actively pursue opportunities to continue to learn best practices to develop our internal team members for Goodwill career pathways.
      • Establish a process to review and include feedback from end of course surveys.
      • Compile and enter evaluation feedback reports for the Vice President of Human Resources.
      • Use a data driven learning design approach by gathering and leveraging various data sets to show success and identify the need for improvement.
