Emergency Room Technician provides clinical and administrative support to emergency department staff. Prepares patients for physician examination. Being an Emergency Room Technician measures and records vital signs, performs EKGs, and collects lab samples as needed. Provides wound care and assists with splints, slings, casts, and crutches. Additionally, Emergency Room Technician cleans, inspects, and sets up emergency rooms and equipment. Requires a high school diploma. Requires CPR/BLS Certification. May require EMT or CNA Certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Emergency Room Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Assist with patient care based on individual needs within the scope of practice under direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. Previous Emergency Dept Technician, MA or Nursing Assistant experience preferred. BCLS certification required.
LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
One of four certifications required: B-EMT, Graduate from a formal Medical Assistant program, Completion of a formal nursing education program to practice as an RN offshore, Completion of a formal medical doctor education program to practice as a medical doctor offshore. EMT license preferred.
Successful completion of a 180-day orientation period required.
