Emergency Room Technician provides clinical and administrative support to emergency department staff. Prepares patients for physician examination. Being an Emergency Room Technician measures and records vital signs, performs EKGs, and collects lab samples as needed. Provides wound care and assists with splints, slings, casts, and crutches. Additionally, Emergency Room Technician cleans, inspects, and sets up emergency rooms and equipment. Requires a high school diploma. Requires CPR/BLS Certification. Emergency Medical Technician
Duties:
- Respond to non-emergency calls, emergency calls, as well as public events and provide medical assistance to patients in various settings, including homes, public areas, facilities, doctor's offices, and hospitals.
- Assess patients' conditions and administer appropriate medical treatments and interventions.
- Transport patients safely to and from medical facilities, ensuring their comfort and well-being during the journey.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, relay patient information, and follow medical protocols.
- Perform basic life support techniques, such as CPR and first aid, as needed.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
- Clean and restock medical supplies and equipment after each call.
Requirements:
- Valid & current South Carolina certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and BLS for Healthcare Provider card.
- Strong knowledge of South Carolina emergency medical procedures and protocols.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions in high-stress situations.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals.
