Emergency Room Technician provides clinical and administrative support to emergency department staff. Prepares patients for physician examination. Being an Emergency Room Technician measures and records vital signs, performs EKGs, and collects lab samples as needed. Provides wound care and assists with splints, slings, casts, and crutches. Additionally, Emergency Room Technician cleans, inspects, and sets up emergency rooms and equipment. Requires a high school diploma. Requires CPR/BLS Certification. May require EMT or CNA Certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Emergency Room Technician's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Job Summary

Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED, required and completion of one of the following:
Completion of EMT-P (Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic), EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and one year of clinical or CA hospital experience (or)
Completion of the first year of education and current enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing and one year of applicable experience (or)
Current ED tech with 3 years of experience.
Experience Requirements
Experience with IV start, phlebotomy, and initiation of EKG, preferred. Position requires fluency in English, written and oral communication.
Certifications/ Licensures Requirements
Current BLS certifications through the American Heart Association, required. ACLS and PALS preferred. CLP/POCT License required within probationary period renewed annually. Food Handlers card required within probationary period renewed annually.
Physical Requirements
Heavy Work
Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly.
