Emergency Medical Technician responds to emergency calls for medical assistance, assesses the situation, obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Being an Emergency Medical Technician communicates with the medical care facility receiving the patient about the patient's condition, status, and arrival time. May require registry in NREMT. Additionally, Emergency Medical Technician requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Emergency Medical Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Jordan Valley EMS Authority located in East Jordan, Michigan, is currently seeking candidates to fill open positions of part-time EMT-B's. A state issued EMT-B License or NREMT if out of state, is required. Also must have a valid drivers license, American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and/or American Heart Association BLS Certificate, Emergency Driving Course for Ambulance (i.e. CEVO or equivalent), willingness to complete additional continuing education credits as needed to be in good standing with the State EMS office and pass a background check and drug screen.
