Emergency Medical Technician responds to emergency calls for medical assistance, assesses the situation, obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Being an Emergency Medical Technician communicates with the medical care facility receiving the patient about the patient's condition, status, and arrival time. May require registry in NREMT. Additionally, Emergency Medical Technician requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Emergency Medical Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Operates Pro-Med vehicles in a safe, professional manner being attentive to the needs of patients he/she is transporting. Communicates with Dispatch via radio or telephone. Completes all reports legibly, accurately and on a timely basis. At each shift change, checks operating supplies and vehicle utilizing Pro-Med’s shift checklist. At each shift change, inspects vehicle to ensure that it is ready for service (e.g. brakes, lights, fluids, etc.) Performs all duties in a safe, courteous, confidential and professional manner, always taking into account the well being of the patient. Provide medical examination and screening of patients consistent with Medical Control Authority protocols Uses safety and PPE equipment as required by law and company policies. Maintains vehicles and quarters pursuant to Pro-Med policies. Other duties as assigned. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current EMT Basic license from the State of Michigan. Valid State of Michigan motor vehicle operating license, with continued safe driving history.
