Emergency Dispatcher is responsible for responding to calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance and dispatching law enforcement, fire fighting, or rescue units. Transmits and receives coded and conventional messages. Being an Emergency Dispatcher differentiates between routine, priority, and emergency messages, and initiates or follows through on responses as required. Communicates details of situation and location. Additionally, Emergency Dispatcher enters unit response details into a database. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Emergency Dispatcher works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Responsibilities- Receives, dispatches, and records all requests for emergency and other assistance for IMMC, ILH, MW, and BCH, to include the following:
- Life Flight
- Unity Point Ground Ambulance
- Neonatal and Pediatric Transport
- Ambulance reports
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
Identify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Working knowledge of computers with basic proficiency Working knowledge of radio communications and radio terminology is preferred.
Previous dispatch experience. Knowledge of EMS community. Experience in aviation operations
License(s)/Certification(s):
Paramedic certification or equivalent experience. Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
