Emergency Dispatcher is responsible for responding to calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance and dispatching law enforcement, fire fighting, or rescue units. Transmits and receives coded and conventional messages. Being an Emergency Dispatcher differentiates between routine, priority, and emergency messages, and initiates or follows through on responses as required. Communicates details of situation and location. Additionally, Emergency Dispatcher enters unit response details into a database. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Emergency Dispatcher works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. HOURLY RANGE: $13.00-$18.00
ALL FULL TIME POSITIONS: In addition to your pay, your salary also includes Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance. The Biweekly deduction from employee paycheck is $40.00 for Employee Only, $95.00 Employee plus Children, $120.00 Employee plus Spouse, and $140.00 Employee plus family.
JOB SUMMARY:
Answer all in-coming calls, welcome visitors and direct them to the appropriate personnel or department for assistance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Responsible for answering four 911 telephone lines and eight administration telephonelines. Ensuring that phone messages are taken accurately and are deliveredpromptly.
•Responsible for answering a 20-25 channel radio and dispatching calls to theappropriate agency.
•Responsible for logging all incoming and outgoing phone and radio calls.
•Responsible for greeting individuals who come into the office and directing themto the appropriate staff or agency.
•Assist in maintaining files and perform general clerical duties.
•Assist responders as needed
•All other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
•Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
•Computer skills, including Word, Excel and Access.
•Report writing and data entry skills.
•Must be able to type 50 wpm.
•Knowledge of other office equipment.
•Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Must be able to stay calm in emergency situations.
•Must be able to multitask.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Sitting or standing for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting,kneeling, stooping. Good finger dexterity and feeling for frequent repetitivemotions; verbal, audible, and visual acuity.
•Occasional lifting (up to 50lbs)
