Emergency Dispatcher is responsible for responding to calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance and dispatching law enforcement, fire fighting, or rescue units. Transmits and receives coded and conventional messages. Being an Emergency Dispatcher differentiates between routine, priority, and emergency messages, and initiates or follows through on responses as required. Communicates details of situation and location. Additionally, Emergency Dispatcher enters unit response details into a database. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Emergency Dispatcher works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Positions available at locations in Morrison, IL
Applicants must have or pass the following requirements:
1. Must be eighteen years of age at time of application and provide proof of birth date with applications.
2. High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate required.
3. Must have at least 20/50 binocular vision without glasses; correctable to 20/20 with glasses and shall not be color blind.
4. Must pass background check which will include polygraph and psychological examination; physical and drug screening.
Education, expertise and skills will be considered in screening the application for testing.
The testing for the list will be as follows:
Written test (credit given for military service if copy of DD214 form provided at time of application).
