  • Physicians Ambulance Service, Inc.
  • Brecksville, OH FULL_TIME
  • Physicians Ambulance is a third generation, family owned and operated private ambulance service headquartered just outside Cleveland, Ohio. Covering 14 Ohio Counties and with nearly 330 employees, Physicians Ambulance is one of the largest pre-hospital care providers in the region, with an intent focus on clinical care and the personal and professional advancement of their employees.

We have Station locations in: Brecksville (HQ), Elyria, Mentor, Kent, Warren and Smithville (Columbus coming soon May 2024).

Physicians Ambulance aims to treat every employee like family. The best companies understand that their employees make the difference and determine their future, and at Physicians Ambulance that is a core belief, and it drives their initiatives.

Building upon one’s core knowledge, Physicians Ambulance aims to improve the performance and confidence of their clinicians and give them the building blocks to exceed here and in any healthcare realm with which they may pivot.

Today, pre-hospital care has evolved and advanced service providers, like Physicians Ambulance, operate, essentially, mobile hospitals with the ability to stabilize and treat patients at an extremely high level of clinical care. Physicians Ambulance leads the way in the markets they serve thanks to their outstanding medical direction, clinical education team, and investment in the latest technologies and methodologies.

Physicians Ambulance is an Accredited Learning Center, with 4 EMS-Is on staff! We have an Educational Partnership with University Hospitals, which enables us to offer FREE refresher courses and provide a pipeline for career advancement (including opportunities to train to become an EMS-I, or a Paramedic III (Critical Care Transport/ Flight Medic level)).

Founded in 1958 by Robert and Patricia Hess, Physicians Ambulance came into existence during an era where ambulance services and funeral home services often worked in tandem, and the main benefit to utilizing an emergency vehicle was the ability to get through traffic lights and to the hospital as quickly as possible. Wow, have things changed…

It is Our Mission to help and care for those who cannot for themselves. It is our Vision to find purpose in every patient interaction (a key foundation of our Vision). Physicians Ambulance has grown organically since its second founding in 2001 (we previously sold in 1994 to national company) based on the needs and asks of our customers and partners. We go where there is a need, and it has taken us to markets we never thought we’d be in, but in every one of those instances, we engrain ourselves in the surrounding community and make a difference where we can.

Communications Team Members and Dispatchers are critical support staff for our overall operation, which provides Emergency Medical Services and Skilled Patient Transport to a wide array of customers over a 14-county service area in Ohio. While it is recommended that candidates have either their EMD certification (Emergency Medical Dispatcher) or are/ have been an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), those are not requirements. What is essential is that the individuals applying for this position understand healthcare, medical transport and Northern Ohio geography.

The ideal candidate must be primarily an excellent communicator and able to remain calm and composed, especially in emergency and other high stress situations. You must be able to multi-task as well as take the appropriate action with little supervision.

    · Fast typing with experience in data entry

    · Knowledge of procedures and guidelines for emergency situations

    · Outstanding organizational skills and multitasking abilities

    · Active listener with excellent communication skills

    · Sound judgement and critical thinking

    · High school diploma

    Closing Note:

“It’s true, you spend more time at work in your lifetime than not. So, where you work should represent what you believe in. You should be proud to wear the logo you choose to put on each day. At Physicians Ambulance, our people are our differential. That’s not just a nicely structured sentence, that’s the truth. We aren’t a perfect organization; no, we are still building the perfect organization-- and it takes an army of good people to do it.

In a nutshell, we take care of our employees so they can take care of our customers. We do so by focusing most intently on clinical education, training and “the little details” that go a long way when caring for patients.

Our customers rave about our Paramedics, EMTs and Support Staff, because they are the best at what they do, the most caring, loving and passionate. I hope you consider coming in to see what makes us different.”
