  • Overview

    GovCIO is currently hiring for an Electronics Engineer to to provide technical support to the Navy’s Fleet Submarine Very Low and Low-Frequency Broadcast Engineering Support team.  This position will be located in Charleston, SC and will be an onsite position.

    Responsibilities

    Provides installation, technical expertise, and training for all telecommunications equipment and components. Installs, configures, terminates and tests all telecommunications equipment, cables, connectors, and interfaces. Performs intricate alignment and calibration procedures to ensure telecommunication systems are operating efficiently. Maintains telecommunication equipment and component inventory, asset management, media production equipment and facilities as well as fixed installations at various company and/or client sites. Resolves system operational problems by troubleshooting and performing fault isolation. May supervise telecommunications technicians, outside contractors providing technical support and media production services.

     

    Duties to include: 

    • Provides installation, technical expertise, and training for all telecommunications equipment and components.
    • Installs, configures, terminates, and tests all telecommunications equipment, cables, connectors, and interfaces.
    • Performs intricate alignment and calibration procedures to ensure FVLF/LF radio transmitter systems are operating efficiently.
    • Maintains telecommunication equipment and component inventory, asset management, media production equipment, and facilities as well as fixed installations at various company and/or client sites.
    • Resolves system operational problems by troubleshooting and performing fault isolation. May supervise telecommunications technicians, and outside contractors providing technical support and media production services.
    • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform maintenance and repairs based upon manufacturer specifications and recommendations.
    • Responsible for engineering and/or installation activities within the telecommunications function including engineering, implementation, diagnostics, and operations/user support.
    • Report and monitor service order changes.
    • Monitors the operation of Radio Frequency (RF) network systems and transition mediums.
    • Performs complex tasks relating to telecommunication network operations, installation, and/or maintenance for local, off-site, and/or remote locations.
    • Gather technical requirements, conduct surveys and engage with clients, constructions crews, utility personnel, and various government departments.
    • Maintain effective communication with external vendors placing orders for circuits and equipment as necessary, unitizing specific modems, test equipment, and terminal configuration knowledge.
    • Test, troubleshoot and repair circuit boards/cards if required.
    • Proficiently handle wiring and cabling installation and termination tasks.
    • Serves as a technical specialist for the resolution of complex RF Transmitter network problems.
    • Provides field reporting as required.

     

    Qualifications

     

    High School with 9 years (or commensurate experience) with formal electronics or communications training from an accredited technical school or equivalent military rate training, i.e., Class A or B military school.Required Skills and Experience

     

    • Clearance Required: Secret
    • Experience desired in Allen Bradley Control Systems architecture, High Voltage RF, Corona Treatments, RF Tuning Networks.
    • Ability to interpret and implement electronic, electrical, mechanical, and installation schematics and drawings.
    • Proficiency in using miscellaneous test equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal generators.
    • Deep understanding of electrical and electronic theory.
    • Experience in circuit modelling, design, and repair.
    • Knowledge of NAVELEX 0101,110 (series) criteria and its practical applications.
    • Methodical engineering approach with exceptional attention to detail.
    • Understanding/experience with PLC programming.
    • Experience in system installation planning and execution, including familiarity with MS Project.
    • System Operational verification Test (SOVT) and Pre-installation and Test Checkout (PITCO) experience.
    • Outstanding communication skills.
    • Ability to navigate and resolve ambiguity effectively.
    • Mathematical aptitude.

    The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
