    Role Description & Primary Duties

    The Electronic Hardware Engineer role is part of the team responsible for hardware development for the electronic systems on our integrated powertrain. The successful candidate will participate in several aspects of solution delivery including specification, design, prototyping, testing, certification, and manufacture. There are two primary areas of hardware electronics in our powertrain, the multiphase inverter/motor controller for the electric powerplant, and the battery management system and control unit for the energy storage system. This role focuses on the energy storage system.

     

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Contribute to the development of battery management and battery control unit hardware electronics for aerospace applications, from low voltage sensing and control to high voltage power delivery – primarily driving the hardware implementation.
    • Contribute to the design, test, and validate high voltage battery electronics circuits, including hardware and software, in lab tests and in the field.
    • Perform circuit and/or system design and integration at circuit board, enclosure, and system level.
    • Setup and testing of high voltage battery management and control circuit prototypes including developing test procedures, measurement and reporting.
    • Interfacing hardware components including control systems, actuators, voltage and current sensors, power analyzers, encoders and vehicle management units.
    • Modelling using Matlab/Simulink and PCB layouts with Altium or other similar tools.
    • Define requirements for battery management unit software/firmware.
    • Hardware design for certification in airborne systems according to DO-254 and testing according to DO-160G or automotive safety systems to ISO26262.
    • Develop and support regulatory, certification and manufacturing plans for magniX products.
    • Repair and review technical documentation for electronic hardware systems designs, specifications, test plans and reports.
    • Develop and implement best practices in hardware reliability engineering.

     

    Requirements  

    • BS or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering
    • 5-7 years’ experience or equivalent specialization in graduate education in circuit board design.
    • Experience with high voltage battery management system product design particularly for traction applications desired.
    • Experience with electronic circuit design and testing.
    • Experience with electronic testing design tools such as MATLAB, SPICE, Altium, etc.
    • Experience in product development for aerospace or high voltage electric vehicle batteries is an advantage.
    • Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-up skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with others.
    • An attitude of curiosity and learning.


    Location

    • Applicants must be willing and able to commute to magniX's location in Everett, Washington.

    This position's approximate base salary range is $115,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year, depending on years of experience and level of education.

     

    This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. Under §120.15, a “U.S. Person” includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees. As this position requires access to export-controlled data, an appropriate export authorization by the U.S. Government may be required prior to such access. Employment, and the continuity of employment of non-U.S. persons, is contingent upon the company’s ability to secure and maintain the necessary export control authorization.
