Electroencephalograph Technologist operates specialized equipment which measures and records electrical activity of the brain, peripheral nervous system, and spinal cord. Assists in the analysis and diagnosis of disorders in the brain and nervous system such as brain tumors, sleep disorders, strokes and epilepsy. Being an Electroencephalograph Technologist requires an associate degree in related area. Requires certification by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologies. Additionally, Electroencephalograph Technologist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Electroencephalograph Technologist independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. Has gained full proficiency in a broad range of activities related to the job. To be an Electroencephalograph Technologist typically requires 5-7 years of related experience.     The work schedule for this position is Tuesday - Saturday 5:00PM-1:30AM

    Job Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
    • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
    • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
    • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
    • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
    • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
    • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
    • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
    • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
    • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

     Requirements:

    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related science (or 24 credits in Chemistry/Biology constituting a biological science major) as required by CLIA
    • Florida state Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) license is required
    • Previous experience as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is highly preferred
    • ASCP or AMT certification is a plus
    • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
    • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
    • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
    • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
    • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
