Summary
The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing electrical installation, maintenance, and repair tasks within the power plant. The Electrical Supervisor will provide supervision to a team of electricians or technicians, coordinate workflow, ensure electrical systems and equipment operate efficiently and safely in compliance with regulations, and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Job Responsibilities:
· Supervise and lead a team of electricians and/or technicians, assigning tasks and overseeing their work schedules and performance.
· Plan, schedule, and coordinate electrical installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
· Lead the installation or support the installation of plant equipment modifications and upgrades and coordinates the demolition of abandoned equipment and/or systems as directed by plant management.
· Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine project requirements and specifications.
· Troubleshoot electrical problems and implement corrective actions as needed.
· Train and mentor team members on safety procedures, proper installation techniques and best practices.
· Collaborate with other departments, management, and contract companies to ensure adequate support is provided.
· Keep an inventory of shop supplies and materials such as commonly used hardware and equipment required for electrical projects and notifying leadership when quantities are low or out.
· Follows instructions of approved work order and/or procedures; orders necessary materials to ensure safe completion.
· Documents daily work activities to provide clarity to work packages turned over to another shift or team.
· Develop and review applicable manuals and drawings for systems prior to starting work.
· Maintain qualifications related to work assignments and attend training when scheduled.
· Develop lockout/tagout (LOTO) boundaries for systems to be worked on when required for personal protection and review with operations.
· Walk down all applicable LOTO boundaries prior to starting work on a system or component.
· Conduct regular safety inspections and promote safe practices within the team.
· Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager
Education & Experience Requirements:
· Proven experience working as an Electrician in an Industrial environment or in a similar role with at least 3-5 years of experience of supervisory experience.
· In-depth knowledge of industrial electrical systems, codes, regulations, and safety standards
· Knowledge of Low, Medium and High Voltage, PLCs, VFDs, Relays, Breakers, Motors, Substation equipment
· Proficiency in reading technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
· Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule depending on the demands of the plant.
· Proficient at using Microsoft office suite – word, excel, etc.
· Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision.
Physical Demands
Work is performed in a solar plant environment with frequent walking, standing, squatting, bending, reaching, and climbing ladders/stairs. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 50lbs or more. Exposure to environmental factors such as extreme temperatures and noisy environment.
