Electrical Engineering Supervisor supervises electrical engineers and technicians who design, develop, and test all aspects of electrical components, equipment, and machinery.     This is a full-time supervisory position that is responsible for oversight of the construction and commissioning of large electrical systems within the designated area.  This individual will direct employees, contractors and works with other department supervisor on company projects. Responsible for the site layout, design, specification, calibration, installation and troubleshooting of all types of instrumentation & electrical and electronic equipment used in the operations of crude and refined products pipelines. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for managing and overseeing the companies’ electrical systems, within designated area.
    • Provides strategic direction and leadership to the Instrumentation Electrical department to assure effective practices and comply with the companies’ policies and applicable regulatory agencies.
    • Directs employees and contractors for installation; variable frequency drives, medium/high voltage terminations, etc. grounding and bonding of equipment, motor control centers, switch gearing, pump panels and actuators.
    • Mentors and guides other employees on PLC’s for troubleshooting, HMI programs, Programing MSG instructions to move data from one station to another, upgrading existing locations, and calculate power usage and shed unnecessary loads from systems.
    • Manage instrumentation and electrical department with a focus on safety, compliance, reliability, efficiency, cost management and innovation.
    • Manage instrumentation and electrical department activities to ensure company procedures are followed and that compliance is maintained relative to all applicable local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
    • Responsible for all equipment including, but is not limited to, transformers, vacuum fault interrupters, MCC’s, switchgear, pumps, motors, valves, actuators, meters, transmitters, flow computers and programmable logic controllers (PLC), variable frequency drives (VFD’s), motor starters, human machine interfaces (HMI’s), relay logic systems, instruments and instrumentation loops.
    • Acts as point of contact for Instrumentation Electrical complaints and service requests.
    • Deals with problems that may be sensitive in nature and responds according to regulatory and company policy and regulations in partnership with Operations.
    • Directs related managerial activities which include gathering performance indicators, reports, and communications.
    • Researches and proposes changes, improvements and/or additions for the Instrumentation Electrical department.
    • Completing projects on time and within budget.
    • Ability to train, lead and motivate others.
    • Highly skilled in written and oral communication.
    • Travel throughout the assigned area is required to support projects, startups and trouble calls.
    • Supporting and directing the active involved in the Environmental, Health, and Safety Programs, for the Instrumentation Electrical department.
    • Being on-call on a rotational basis and responding to calls twenty-four/seven (24/7) for emergency response.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma, with ten (10) years of related Electrical experience, including five (5) years in a leadership position; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience, may be considered.
    • Journeyman Electrical License
    • Effectively delegates work assignments and gives authority to work independently.
    • Understands business implications of decisions and demonstrates knowledge and skills.
    • Possession of a journeyman’s or master’s license for states of operation through testing or reciprocation.
    • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
    • English language fluency, verbal and written.
    • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
