POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for an Engineering and Design Manager to join MEPPI's Critical Power Solutions Division. The Engineering and Design Manager for Critical Power is responsible for leading and managing the engineering and design team in the development and implementation of critical power solutions. This role involves overseeing the design process, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The manager will also play a crucial role in project planning, resource allocation, and technical leadership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage and direct the project activities and processes associated with engineering and design of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, IT cooling products, software solutions, and future critical power products and solutions.
- Lead the design, development, and management of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, IT cooling products, software solutions, and future critical power products and solutions.
- Facilitate and manage collaborative efforts with MELCO and TMEIC for product development and lifecycle management, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and market needs.
- Oversee the project management function, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of the product documentation library, including drawings and assembly criteria.
- Oversee the development of detailed product specifications to maintain consistency across different vendors and local production.
- Provide sustained engineering support, including design and documentation processes for new products.
- Work with Operations to achieve annual cost reduction goals and support Low-Value-Added (LVA) efforts.
- Lead the technical support function as part of lifecycle management, coordinating with Quality and Service departments to conduct thorough and timely Root Cause Analysis, and providing technical guidance to internal and external customers.
- Participate in technical meetings, seminars, and presentations. Represent MEPPI in professional and customer-facing settings.
- Manage the production review and distribution of electrical system and mounting/outline drawings.
- Interface with regulatory entities to understand and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with other Departments to meet project and design requirements, minimizing risk and exposure.
- Ensure complete and organized project documentation in line with the Division quality policy.
- Contribute to the improvement of Company policies and procedures, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage and direct staff according to Company policies and procedures to achieve Division and department objectives. Develop employees by training, cross training, and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input for salary decisions.
- Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Division by conducting business with other MEPPI departments and outside contacts in a timely and cooperative manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with a minimum of 10 of years of experience in engineering, system integration, and/or applications of electrical or power quality-related products with a minimum of 7 years of managerial experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Advanced skills in developing team approaches for working with a diverse technical team.
- Advanced knowledge of UPS, IT cooling, and software systems, with the ability to continuously learn and adapt to new critical power solutions.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to address complex technical challenges.
- Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.
- Ability to work in multicultural environments with an emphasis on Japanese culture.
- Ability to work in a team environment and on several projects simultaneously.
- Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office Products and engineering software.
