The Durham Museum is looking for positive, hard-working and engaging people to join our team. If you love ice cream and have always wondered what it would be like to be a Soda Jerk, we want to hear from you. No prior Soda Jerk experience required, we will train you on how to create hand crafted ice cream treats. In addition, you get to come to work everyday in a National Historic Landmark building that used to be a former train station.
Position Overview:
The Soda Fountain Specialist interacts with customers and performs daily functions in the soda fountain including serving/selling hand-crafted ice cream treats and beverages, as well as quick prep food and snacks. The Soda Fountain Specialist will be trained to master all areas of the Soda Fountain and should aspire to become an "expert level" Soda Jerk. In this role they will foster positive customer relations and create an engaging and memorable experience for all visitors.

Position ranges between 20-35 hours a week. Flexible schedule with weekend hours required. Most hours will be during standard museum operating hours but may include holidays/evenings to accommodate museum rentals and special events.
