Education Specialist - Museum conducts research activities concerned with educational programs and services in a museum. Creates and distributes educational materials and publications for museum visitors and may be responsible for conducting staff training sessions. Being an Education Specialist - Museum may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Education Specialist - Museum occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Accounting Specialist - Accounts Payable

  • Principal Function: The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for the maintenance of the accounts payable vendor files and processing of all invoices. This role also performs accounting functions in the area of credit card reconciliation and investment accounting and supports the director with assigned tasks.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Processes vendor invoices (approximately 150-200/day) from receipt, approval, recording and paying.
    • Reconciles corporate credit cards and processing through the accounts payable system.
    • Reconciles various general ledger accounts and corporate bank accounts.
    • Assists the director in month-end and year-end closing processes.
    • Updates budget templates as directed by Chief Financial and Operations Officer.
    • Performs and coordinates investment accounting specifically related to new investment paperwork completion and statement reconciliations.
    • Coordinates and prepares for capital calls when funding has been committed over a period of time.
    • Files invoices and mails as necessary.
    • Assists director and accounting specialist with additional tasks and support.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.

    Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in accounting, finance, or other related field is desired; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience working in an accounting role is desired. Previous experience working in a museum and/or entertainment park industry is desired.

    Other Skills and Abilities: The following skills and abilities are either required or desired.

    • Computer software skills required include: Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, is required.
    • Accounting software experience required; Working knowledge of Blackbaud / Financial Edge desired.
    • A working knowledge of accounting processes and financial procedures is required.
    • The ability to operate a computer, printer, copy machine, scanner, fax machine, and other office equipment is required.
    • The ability to speak, read and write in English is required. Spanish is desired.

    While the offices of Conner Prairie are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, this position may require work beyond these hours and on the weekends. It also may require occasional domestic travel. Thus, a valid driver’s license is desired.
