    Position Summary:

    UC Irvine’s Department of Surgery has expertise in multiple complex diseases and are integrated to subspecialties including cancer, gastrointestinal disease, vascular diseases cardiovascular diseases, hepatobiliary disease, trauma and surgical critical care. The department has 8 divisions with 40 faculty and 22 staff. For more than 50 years, the Department of Surgery has been dedicated to helping patients live well and stay well. The department’s principle — “When You See One of Us, You See All of Us” — underscores the department’s commitment to ensure patients the broadest expertise and most comprehensive care possible. Under the supervision of the Director of Education and Research, the Education Manager position will serve as the primary resource the surgery education division and staff. Incumbent will assist the program directors and coordinators in the management and direction of the training programs. Major responsibilities include coordination of the educational activities of the program, assisting incoming and current trainees, and maintaining academic curriculum. Assures program compliance with regulatory standards, oversees medical education staff, and day to day operations. Can apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of medical education. Applies knowledge about curriculum, requirements, and educational activities to coordinate professional health education programs. Coordinates and maintains program operations, which may include teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation.

    $66,700.00 - $118,500.00 (Annual Salary)


    Required:

    Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training Master’s degree in related area preferred

    Thorough knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Solid knowledge of health professions education program requirements. Thorough knowledge of health professions education industry. Thorough knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes and systems. Thorough knowledge of the administrative and operational implications in a program. Demonstrated experience and documented excellence in oral and written communications skills; includes active listening and critical thinking. Strong interpersonal skills. Actively cooperates and supports the work of others. Ability to work productively with anyone regardless of background. Empathetic and aware of impact on others. Strong problem solving skills to assist learners and resolve issues. Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to complete work and meet established deadlines in an accurate and timely manner, and to manage short and competing deadlines. Thorough knowledge of educational software and platforms. Demonstrated ability to analyze and seek solutions to enhance the user experience.


    Preferred:

    Thorough knowledge of data management, documentation methods used in investigating and presenting findings about the program. Skills include statistical analysis of data across databases and systems.
