Education Director provides supervision and direction of nursing education programs. Develops and implements course content and curriculums to train and update skills and knowledge of in-service nurses. Being a Education Director remains current and knowledgeable regarding federal and state regulations. Provides oversight and day-to-day guidance to staff. Additionally, Education Director typically requires a master's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN) License. Typically reports to senior management. The Education Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Education Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Effectively utilizes lines of authority and lines of communication as depicted on organizational chart. • Assists and supports supervisors and Orthopedics Service Line Supervisor in achieving departmental goals.• Collaborates with ancillary departments to achieve care goals. The educational objective seeks to incorporate the following priorities in program design: • Compliance education• Educational needs expressed through performance improvement activities• Expertise development, advances in care• Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, Values and Guiding Principles• HIPAA education• National Patient Safety Goals and other regulatory requirements• Patient populations we serve• Required and personal competency needs of staff to fulfill their job duties• Retention efforts to support staff and encourage their continued employment • Safety & Infection Control updates• Technologies involved in the care of our patient populations• The expectations of the organization, our medical staff, and our patients and families• The learning needs expressed by our staff• New product in-services QualificationsEducation:• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. • BSN required. Masters in Nursing or health related field preferred.• CPR mandatory Experience:• Three to five years’ experience management or staff nurse in which administrative and supervisory ability has been demonstrated is preferred.Management Skills:• Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills.
