Education Director provides supervision and direction of nursing education programs. Develops and implements course content and curriculums to train and update skills and knowledge of in-service nurses. Being a Education Director remains current and knowledgeable regarding federal and state regulations. Provides oversight and day-to-day guidance to staff. Additionally, Education Director typically requires a master's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN) License. Typically reports to senior management. The Education Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Education Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers intensive residential treatment services within a secure setting. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of youth ages 7- 17 who are experiencing emotional, psychiatric and educational difficulties. In addition to our general psychiatric programs, we also offer specialty programs for youth with more serious challenges. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE®-approved and certified facility.

    Position Scope
    :
    Administrative and clinical responsibility for the provision of educational services for Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center. Directs and coordinates the efforts to meet educational needs of all residents both special and regular education in conjunction with IEP’s, IIP’s and requirements of regulatory agencies. Provides leadership, coaching, mentoring and supervision of teachers and other staff assuring that educational needs of the residents are met. Directs educational services to ensure that the program meets national, state, local and Company standards and is effective to ensure good residential outcomes.

    :


    • Comply with all Administrative, Educational, Clinical, and Human Resources policies and procedures.
    • Maintains a qualified and well trained staff that holds current certifications in the appropriate areas.
    • Plans, directs, controls, coordinates, and evaluates the facility’s educational services to provide and promote: high standards of learning, quality of care, and compliance with facility and regulatory standards.
    • Facilitate and author with a group of key stakeholders, the UHS School Improvement Plan (SIP) that strategically positions the school to execute new initiatives that will improve student outcomes.
    • Coordinates and oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of facility policies regarding education services.
    • Serves as the designated VAISEF representative to maintain and disseminate organizational information and fulfill all VAISEF.
    • Complies with all state and federal regulations governing special education programs for children with disabilities.
    • Maintains current licensure requirements and accreditation standards for schools.
    • Promote Service Excellence in all areas of service delivery.

    Ability to effectively communicate with school personnel, educational staff, and interdisciplinary teams. Knowledgeable about IEP's, IIPs, state and federal regulations and modification of curriculum. An individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily.     Education
    :
    Master’s Degree in Special Education and/or Administration.

    Experience
    :
    Minimum 5 years classroom experience as well as 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.

    Licensure/Certification
    :
    Current Virginia teaching license, with endorsement Administration and Supervision preferred. Handle with Care, CPR, and First Aid.
