Part-time Editorial/Advertising Assistant
Maine Antique Digest, a nationally distributed monthly publication based in Waldoboro, Maine, seeks an editorial and advertising assistant to join our production team. This is an on-site position. Remote work is not an option.
Responsibilities:
Prepare ad copy for typesetting and layout. Correct errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Prepare for publication news items, obituaries, letters to the editor, index, and table of contents.
Fact check and copyedit story manuscripts.
Email proofs of ads to advertisers for them to check over.
Answer telephones. Assist customers with advertising and subscription questions.
Process and enter Trade Directory listings.
Assist the editorial, advertising, graphics, and subscription departments as needed.
Skills required:
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Flexibility.
The ability to meet deadlines, to work under pressure, to multitask, and to work as part of a team.
Knowledge of art and antiques helpful but not required.
Hours:
Approximately 20 hours per week. Days and hours are somewhat flexible except during the busiest five days (the Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday immediately after the monthly ad deadline, which is always the first Wednesday of the month). M.A.D.’s workday is 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
All work must be done on site in Waldoboro. This position does not lend itself to telecommuting.
