Editor, Sr. reviews, edits, and re-writes a variety of documents and/or digital content. Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compelling content for written copy and/or websites and other online communications media. Being an Editor, Sr. ensures that all content meets required and accepted format and standards. Evaluates content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Additionally, Editor, Sr. may coordinate with creative team to produce final drafts. May provide guidance to lower-level staff. Requires a bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Editor, Sr. work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. The Editor edits and proofreads test questions, manuals, technical documentation, and related materials for grammatical and typographical accuracy and adherence to project-specific style guides in both print and online environments. In addition, the editor lays out examinations and other documents in MS Word or Adobe InDesign and provides quality-control support to project directors. Ideally, the editor will have experience making documents accessible/ADA compliant. The editor must have strong project-management and decision-making skills and be able to shepherd projects from start to finish. Salary range: $44,000–$50,000 per yearRequirements● bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field● expert knowledge of English grammar● mastery of Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign for document layout; proficiency in other members of the Microsoft Office family● expertise in creating and manipulating .pdf files in Adobe Acrobat● experience making documents accessible/ADA compliant● experience using database software, with knowledge of HTML preferred● a minimum of three years of experience in editing/proofreadingAttention to detail is vital in this position.
