Editor, Sr. reviews, edits, and re-writes a variety of documents and/or digital content. Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compelling content for written copy and/or websites and other online communications media. Being an Editor, Sr. ensures that all content meets required and accepted format and standards. Evaluates content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Additionally, Editor, Sr. may coordinate with creative team to produce final drafts. May provide guidance to lower-level staff. Requires a bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Editor, Sr. work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. The Town of Plainville is currently seeking a part-time Office Assistant/Newsletter Editor in the Plainville Senior Center. Nineteen (19) hours per week, Monday-Friday, primarily mornings. Rate of pay is $18.54 per hour with an anticipated rate of pay of $19.54 per hour effective July 1, 2024.
Duties for this position include create, write, prepare, and edit monthly newsletter. Attention to detail, excellent writing, communication, grammar, spelling, proof reading, editing and time management skills are essential. Position also requires composing press releases, creating social media announcements, flyers, general correspondence, answering phones, assisting members, etc.
Must have knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, and Microsoft Outlook.
