Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compelling content for written copy and/or websites and other online communications media. Being an Editor, Sr. ensures that all content meets required and accepted format and standards. Evaluates content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Additionally, Editor, Sr. may coordinate with creative team to produce final drafts. May provide guidance to lower-level staff. Requires a bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Editor, Sr. work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     Gulfshore Life is a well-established luxury lifestyle publication with 54 years as the authority on the people, places, and culture of Southwest Florida (think: Naples, Sanibel Island, Fort Myers … white sandy beaches, palm-lined streets, Everglades marshes). We showcase the soul of Southwest Florida through our monthly flagship publication and ~7 special editions a year. Through our parent company, WINK News, we represent the brand on TV and expand our reach to 80% of households in Southwest Florida.

    Who We're Looking For:
    We're seeking a brilliant, highly collaborative Assistant Managing Editor (AME) to join our team in Bonita Springs, FL. In this dual role, you'll work closely with our executive team to keep the editorial trains running on schedule while owning a beat or contributing to lifestyle content in areas, such as food, art, home design, style, nature and wellness. The ideal candidate is a big-thinking editor, who is resourceful, adaptable, super organized and detail-oriented, has strong social-intelligence skills, and has solid experience producing lifestyle content while keeping teams on track.

    What You'll Do:
    • Ensure deadlines are met by tracking stories from assignment to completion, upgrading workflow processes, and keeping the team informed on project statuses and goals
    • Manage production schedules and issue lineups; manage production of our annual listings, such as Best of the Gulf and Top Docs
    • Edit and proofread stories to ensure editorial standards are upheld
    • Stay updated on local lifestyle news and national trends to assist in developing timely and engaging stories for our readers
    • Depending on experience, contribute to or own a beat, ideating, writing, assigning, and editing stories for print and online
    • Assist with recruiting and hiring staff, interns and freelancers
    • Upgrade and operationalize our onboarding process to ensure new hires get up to speed efficiently
    • Manage access to our digital tools and subscriptions
    • Help manage editorial awards submissions
    Who You Are:
    • You have a bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field
    • You have 8 years of post-grad experience in publishing, with at least 2 years in a management or assistant management role
    • You have experience working at lifestyle magazines and understand how things work across teams and functions
    • You have superb research, reporting, writing and editing abilities
    • You are a natural problem solver and skillful communicator who can identify and effectively voice challenges and solutions before they become major issues
    • You are adaptable, resourceful and have strong social-intelligence skills
    • You receive feedback with openness and willingness to implement suggestions and are highly motivated by self-improvement and growth
    • You have superb planning and organizational skills and work well in a deadline-driven environment and under pressure when needed
    • You are a fantastic collaborator and communicator
    • You love magazines and lifestyle journalism
    • You have experience covering luxury content (preferred)
