Being an Editor ensures that all content meets required and accepted format and standards. Evaluates content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Additionally, Editor may coordinate with creative team to produce final drafts. Requires a bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Editor occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. About the role:
We are looking for an Assignment Editor to join our team on a temporary basis. The Assignment Editor for Taste of Home will help kick off our recipe publishing process. Working closely with the Taste of Home editor, you use your SEO knowledge and research skills to create a high volume of assignment briefs for recipes that are infused with advice, images and expertise. You are organized, quick and have a keen interest in the world of cooking.
About you:
A quick, whip-smart editor, you balance your culinary interests with outstanding attention to detail. You love diving into research projects and crafting clear, thorough assignment briefs so our food writers and visual teams can create best-in-class recipe content. You are efficient, nimble and thrive on deadlines. At home, you love to cook and track what is happening in the food world.
Your day-to-day:- You research recipe keywords according to SEO best practices, identifying key written and visual components
- You craft clear, detailed assignment briefs that allow writers and creatives to create engaging, helpful recipe content
- You consistently meet weekly assignment goals
- You support editorial strategy with a full understanding of editorial integrity, brand voice, shareability and engagement, and knowledge of SEO principles and social networks
- 2 years of full-time experience creating SEO-focused digital food content
- Solid knowledge and understanding of the digital landscape, particularly SEO strategy
- Proven knowledge of SEO best practices and tools, such as SEMrush
- Experience with a project database such as Airtable
- Keen organization skills, consistently meeting deadlines and catching all the details
- Clear and succinct written communication skills; comfortable accepting and applying constructive feedback
- Ability to work independently and as part of a group
- A keen familiarity with, and interest in, the food and food-lifestyle space
