Editor reviews, edits, and re-writes a variety of documents and/or digital content. Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compelling content for written copy and/or websites and other online communications media. Being an Editor ensures that all content meets required and accepted format and standards. Evaluates content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Additionally, Editor may coordinate with creative team to produce final drafts. Requires a bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Editor occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     WMUR-TV, the ABC affiliate in Manchester, NH is looking for a well-rounded Digital Content Editor who will create content for our station's website, mobile products and social media platforms. The ideal candidate is an excellent storyteller and can edit and create content facing intense competition and under constant deadline pressure. You will report to our Digital Media Manager. 

    Responsibilities

    • Write/edit and publish breaking news, daily news, sports, weather, and feature stories for the station’s website, mobile and social media platforms
    • Write compelling headlines
    • Collaborate with Reporters and Assignment Editors to ensure content is posted quickly
    • Work with Producers, Assignment Editors and Managers to ensure cross promotion of content across all platforms
    • Manage LIVE streams of newscasts and breaking news
    • Contribute ideas to help grow the station's digital platforms
    • Edit video for all digital platforms
    • Help manage ongoing projects to produce engaging articles and videos relevant to a particular time of year
    • Send timely push notifications in line with team strategy

    Requirements

    • Previous digital editing experience
    • Professional experience with non-linear editing software (Adobe Premiere or equivalent)
    • News and editorial judgment
    • Excellent AP writing skills
    • Basic knowledge of Photoshop and video editing
    • Experience with social media best practices
    • Flexibility to work different shifts, holidays on short notice to cover breaking news and/or a 24-hour news cycle
    • Work well in an environment with frequent interruptions
    • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other programming languages
    • Proficiency in SEO best practices
    • Related military experience will be considered
