Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compelling content for written copy and/or websites and other online communications media. Being an Editor ensures that all content meets required and accepted format and standards. Evaluates content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency. Additionally, Editor may coordinate with creative team to produce final drafts. Requires a bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Editor occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. What You'll Do:
Required & Preferred:
1 years of experience in an active newsroom environment preferred.
Familiarity with the Dallas-Fort Worth news environment preferred.
Must have excellent editorial judgment and deep understanding of current events, politics and news.
Must possess strong multi-tasking skills.
Must be able to quickly pivot and produce content spontaneously based on changing news, breaking news, severe weather, etc.
Must be able to thrive under pressure, especially during breaking news, severe weather, and unrelenting news deadlines.
Must have an understanding of newsroom ethical and legal guidelines and restrictions that govern broadcast media.
Must be familiar with broadcast style, have excellent grammar and spelling.
Must be able to incorporate audio into written stories.
Must be able to positively and effectively communicate with anchors, reporters, board operators, and the KRLD digital team.
Must maintain a friendly attitude and positive interaction when talking with newsmakers, stringers, network counterparts, listeners, and the general public.
