Position: Jr. SQL Database Administrator
Report to: Manager
Job Summary:
Develops, administers, and maintains Microsoft SQL servers, clusters and databases. Applies appropriate processes, procedures and security measures to ensure data availability and integrity to improve performance, availability, and stability of all IT initiatives.

Essential Duties:
The SQL Database Administrator will perform the following key functions:
- Designs, implements, and monitors clustering, mirroring, replications, and failovers
- Coordinates enhancements and maintenance of databases, as well as structural changes
- Designs and implements backups, maintenance plans and other procedures
- Continually monitors database performance and enhance performances as required
- Designs and documents database architecture - Data Modeling
- Monitors systems and platforms for availability
- Performs data loading and verification
- Partners with analyst, network, development teams
- Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Analytical and problem solving skills for design, creation, and testing
- Strong DBA skills and knowledge of Database normalization and de-normalization techniques
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems; or an equivalent degree and two years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and experience
Work Environment
- Fast-Paced, High activity environment
- Office location: Houston, TX
- Lifting and/or Pulling up to 40lbs.; Sitting, Bending, Standing
