EEG Technician performs electroencephalograms in accordance with established practices and procedures. Attaches electrodes to the patient. Being an EEG Technician records impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain to obtain data for use in the diagnosis of brain disorders. Provides preliminary diagnostic evaluation and notifies neurologist of results of examinations. Additionally, EEG Technician consults with neurologist to establish requirements for non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to satisfy requirements. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The EEG Technician works under moderate supervision. As a Registered EEG Technologist at Cleveland Clinic, you will work under the direct supervision of the coordinator, and you will be responsible for performing routine testing procedures on patients. Your duties will include:
• Preparing for testing by checking calibration and supplies on-hand.
• Performing EEGs, nerve condition velocity, and sensory nerve condition velocity testing on patients.
• Educating patients on testing procedures to ease patients throughout the process.
• Administering peripheral and cerebral vascular doppler examinations.
• Understanding and utilizing formulas to calculate test results.
