EEG Technician performs electroencephalograms in accordance with established practices and procedures. Attaches electrodes to the patient. Being an EEG Technician records impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain to obtain data for use in the diagnosis of brain disorders. Provides preliminary diagnostic evaluation and notifies neurologist of results of examinations. Additionally, EEG Technician consults with neurologist to establish requirements for non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to satisfy requirements. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The EEG Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be an EEG Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

    Sigma healthcare team is currently looking for a EEG Technician to work onsite at our client's facility in Warwick, RI.

    Shift: 07:00 - 15:30

    Responsibilities:

    Perform routine inpatient and outpatient EEGs, sleep deprived EEGs, portable bedside EEGs to include intensive care unit and emergency departments, and cerebral silence readings in adult patients.

    Perform measurement to ensure accurate electrode placement. Ensure appropriate impedance testing. Recognize and eliminate artifacts when necessary.

    Collect information on the patient's relevant medical history, current medications, and a description of current seizures for the technical report.

    Recognize the effects of certain diseases and medications on wave form variability. Recognize and respond to seizures.

    Maintain clean equipment and perform minor repairs. Maintain and order supplies as necessary to perform job.

    Perform quality assurance monitoring with the supervising neurologist on a regular basis.

    omplete appropriate paperwork and tasks in electronic medical record for each patient including those required for department statistical and billing purposes.

    Perform all other related duties as assigned.

    Complete continuing education relevant to EEGs.

    Provides manager with recertification documents. Job Qualifications and Specifications Certification by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) is required.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Graduation from a Senior High School or possession of a High School Equivalency Diploma, and one year of experience as an Electroencephalograph Technician in an approved hospital or in the office of a recognized Psychiatrist, Neurologist or Neurosurgeon; or a satisfactory equivalent.

    5 years' experience as an EEG Technician

    Ability to perform EEGs and other NDT studies independently
